Why I Add Products Based on My Own Everyday Life

When I started Draped in Heritage, I did not want to build a brand that only looked pretty online. I wanted to create products that I would actually use in my own life.
I am a wife, a mom, and a working woman. Like many women, I am always carrying something, going somewhere, planning something, or buying something for someone. My day moves between home, work, kid, errands, events, and family responsibilities.
So when I think about adding a new product, I usually start with myself.
Do I need this?
Would I use this?
Would this make my day easier or more beautiful?
That is how many of our products have come into the collection.
The tote bags came from a very real need. I wanted a bag that looked nice but could also carry my everyday things. Something I could take to work, a market, a lunch, or even while running errands. I did not want something mass-produced that everyone had. I wanted something with character.
The lunch and mini totes came from the same place. Sometimes I do not want to carry a big bag, but I still need something useful. A small tote for food, small items, a quick outing, or even gifting felt like something I would reach for again and again.
The robes came from my own need to feel comfortable at home. After a long day, I wanted something soft, breathable, and easy to wear. Something that still made me feel put together, even at home.
That is really how I decide what comes next. I look at my own life first, and then I think about other women like me. Women who are working, managing homes, raising kids, showing up for family, attending events, and still wanting small beautiful things for themselves.
Meeting customers in person has also shaped the brand a lot. When someone picks up a tote and says, “This would be perfect for work,” or “I can gift this to my sister,” it tells me we are creating something useful. Those small conversations matter to me.
Draped in Heritage is rooted in Indian textiles, hand block prints, embroidery, and handmade details. But the way I think about the products is very practical. I want them to fit into real life.
A tote should be beautiful, but it should also carry your things.
A robe should feel special, but you should want to wear it every day.
A pouch should look pretty, but it should also help you stay organized.
That balance is what I care about.
As we grow, I want to keep adding products that come from real needs, not just trends. If something helps me as a working mom, I know it may help another woman too. If something makes my day a little easier or makes a simple moment feel special, then it belongs in Draped in Heritage.
For me, this brand is personal.
It is about creating pieces that are handmade, meaningful, and useful.
Things you can gift.
Things you can carry.
Things you can live with.
Things that feel like they belong in your everyday life.
